Mixing the sites industrial heritage for cloth, alongside the developers branding agency in providing a cool, vibrant, and creative place in which to live. Project Studio went about intertwining these two identities throughout the development. Sat within a glazed link building between both towers, sits the reception lobby. The reception desk was designed in reference to a folded or pleated piece of cloth, an open weave mesh was chosen to achieve this allowing the reception to be back illuminated and enhancing this folded form in the evening. Branding colours of russet, deep purples and blues were used within the rear back drop of the reception via a cross stitch pattern enhancing the brand of the building in its diamond logo. Further reference to this diamond logo canal so be found via a series of felt acoustic panels which were cut into diamond shapes and suspended of the exposed service ceiling to aid with acoustic reverberation within the space, this looks to offset some of the harder surface materials used throughout such as exposed concrete floors and the exposed painted steel frame that was purposefully left on show, in reducing the number of materials used in reducing the buildings carbon impact.
From the central reception block the amenity then splits with a studio space and gym located to your right, again structural steel work was left exposed, and the continuation of the diamond shaped acoustic ceiling panels, helping to control sound in both spaces. To the right of reception houses the main open plan co-working and lounge space. Custom-made tables and benches provide integrated power for co-working, as well as a more relaxed lounge area which sits behind two joinery bookcase/ display walls. Along a tunnelled walkway off the co-working lounge, you are lead into a games lounge which provides a pool table and darts zone, a flexible screening space with furniture on casters allow for the space to be reconfigured to cater for events.
At 12thfloor the sky lounge is divided into 3 zones via a series of sliding pocket doors, allowing the space to be opened as one large social space or closed as smaller bookable spaces. With an on-line gaming and karaoke room providing views to the north across the city, whilst to the south sits a private dining rooms with views south towards the mouth of the Mersey. In reference to the amazing sunsets hear in the evening, a colour palate of terracotta and deep blues were used to compliment the Liverpool skyline.
