The scheme will look to provide 154,000 sqft of flexible office space across one of the new build blocks and the restored former Soapworks building. With a further 243 new build luxury build to rent apartment with residents’ amenities within the third block.
Project Studio were appointed to propose all finishes, fixtures, and furnishings within the apartments along with all lobbies, corridors and lift. Our brief was also to design all the communal amenity spaces within the amenity areas, these include a reception lobby, post and parcel room, co-working lounge, meeting rooms and café area on ground. With a multi-use suite on 1st floor level and a sky lounge connected to a large communal terrace. Within the Soapworks Factory we were asked to propose all finishes to communal areas with the larger new build office block design the reception lobby, co-working areas, bike store, communal changing rooms, WC’s, and lift lobbies.
Our approach to scheme started with extensive research into the history of the site and in particular the process of soap making. Our interior design concept focuses on the forms, textures and transparency of soap and the process in which it is poured, set, cut, and stacked.
These processes lead to a selection of material choices such as glass blocks, resin, acrylic, matte, and gloss tiling along with CNC metal and timber work. These materials are then arranged in forms that you would associate with the shape and stacking forms found within soap making. Providing a series of sculptural objects set across the various buildings. Providing spaces in which to inhabit various amenities.
